Giampiero Anelli, a renowned Italian rock singer, widely recognized by his stage name Drupi, entered the world on August 10, 1947. Prior to embarking on a career in the music industry, Drupi was gainfully employed as a plumber, where he honed his skills in the trade. In his free time, he indulged in the recreational activity of fishing, allowing him to unwind and connect with nature.

Noticed by the esteemed songwriters Luigi Albertelli and Enrico Riccardi, Drupi made his mark on the music world by entering the prestigious 1973 Sanremo Music Festival competition with his captivating song "Vado via". Although the song ultimately finished in last place, it garnered significant international recognition and marked the beginning of his illustrious solo career.

The song "Vado via" was subsequently recorded on the renowned A & M Records and, in January 1974, reached a remarkable number 17 on the UK chart, making it one of the few non-English songs to ever enter the UK charts.
