Dulcie Smart, a New Zealand-born actress, has established a thriving career in both Germany and Australia, with a strong presence in Berlin and Melbourne. Initially, she began her journey in the world of stage acting, taking on lead roles in renowned productions of Shakespeare and Chekhov, as well as contemporary dramas penned by celebrated playwrights such as David Hare, Caryl Churchill, Sam Shepard, Louis Nowra, and Lanford Wilson in Wellington, New Zealand.
In the early 1990s, Smart made the move to Germany, where she has since appeared in a diverse range of film and television projects, collaborating with esteemed directors like the Wachowskis, Tom Tykwer, Margarethe von Trotta, and Mike Newell. Additionally, she has been involved in various theatre productions in Berlin and London.
Notably, Smart appears as herself in the documentary Krzysztof Kieslowski: A Masterclass for Young Directors. Furthermore, she holds a Master of Arts degree in English Literature from Auckland University and a post-graduate Lizenziat in Journalism (Lic. rer. publ.) from Berlin's Freies Universität.
