Eddie Matthews was born in Des Moines, Iowa, where he developed a passion for hunting, fishing, and playing baseball. This love for sports would later influence his decision to pursue a career in stunt work.
He attended Arizona State University, hoping to become a professional baseball player, but soon realized he lacked the size, speed, and talent to make it to the pros. However, this realization led him to discover his true calling in the stunt industry.
Eddie's big break came when he landed an extra role in the 1980 film "Used Cars" in Phoenix, Arizona. It was during this time that he met some of the top veteran stunt people in the business, who advised him to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in stunts.
After making the move to LA, Eddie quickly realized that it took many years to land a job, let alone make a living in the industry. He decided to supplement his income by working with a professional high diving company, performing high dive shows at Six Flags theme park in Los Angeles.
Eddie's diverse background also led him to work as a counselor in various psychiatric hospitals in LA. He even lived and worked in a residential home for autistic adults for five years, which prepared him for the unpredictability of the film industry.
Eddie's big break in the stunt industry came when he landed a job at Universal Studios Hollywood, playing the Don Johnson character in the Miami Vice stunt show. This led to more frequent outside stunt jobs and eventually, he was honored to be voted into the prestigious Stuntmen's Association of Motion Pictures group.
Throughout his career, Eddie has had the opportunity to work with many celebrities, including Matthew Broderick, Dennis Hopper, Robert De Niro, and Sylvester Stallone. He has also stunt-coordinated movies, produced a western, and worked as a stunt double for numerous actors.
Despite his success in the industry, Eddie has witnessed the dark side of fame and fortune, and has come to realize that true peace and fulfillment can only be found through a relationship with God.
Eddie's vision and mission now is to produce and work on impactful, family-friendly stories that showcase unlikely people overcoming great odds, similar to films like "Rain Man," "Brave Heart," "Forest Gump," and "The Sandlot."
