Elmar Klos, a renowned Czech film director, was born on January 26, 1910, and passed away on July 19, 1993. He formed a long-standing collaboration with his Slovak counterpart, Ján Kadár, which spanned an impressive 17 years.

Together, they achieved immense success, including winning the prestigious 1965 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for their outstanding work on the film "The Shop on Main Street".

Their impressive repertoire also includes the 1963 film "Death Is Called Engelchen", which garnered significant recognition by being selected to participate in the 3rd Moscow International Film Festival.
