Emma Cooke was born in St Bart's Hospital, a renowned medical institution in London. Her birthplace, St Bart's Hospital, is a testament to her London roots. Emma's father, Bob Cooke, is the proud owner of F. Cooke Pie & Mash shop on Broadway Market in Hackney, a family business that has been in operation since 1900, when Emma's great-grandfather first opened its doors.
Emma has two younger siblings, Jane and Robert, who share her love for the performing arts. At the age of 16, Emma pursued her interest in drama by attending the Brits school in Croydon, where she honed her craft and prepared herself for a career in the entertainment industry. Emma's hard work paid off when she was accepted into Webber Douglas Drama School, a prestigious institution that has produced many talented actors.
After graduating from drama school with honors, Emma landed her first professional acting role in ITV's Grafters, a popular television drama that starred Robson Green and Stephen Tompkinson. Her breakthrough role came soon after when she was cast as Arden Brooks in the BBC's six-part drama Sex, Chips and Rock'n'Roll. This was followed by a string of successful television and film roles, including appearances in Agatha Christie's Marple, A is for Acid, Eastenders special Pat and Mo, and Ashes to Ashes, in which Emma played a young Pat Butcher.
In addition to her acting career, Emma is also a talented musician. She fronts a band called The Modern, which was signed to Mercury Records, Universal in 2005. The band released three singles, two of which reached the top 40 in the UK charts, as well as an album titled Life In A Modern World. After touring for two years, Emma decided to focus on her first love, acting, and returned to the screen with a small role in Midsomer Murders and the part of Reenie Turpin in the prequel to Only Fools and Horses, Rock'n'Chips.
Emma is married to Chi Tudor-Hart and has two children, Cressida and Lucian, who are the light of her life. Despite her busy schedule, Emma is dedicated to her family and makes sure to balance her work and personal life.
