Biography

Person Biography:

Eric, a man of many talents, has spent his career defying the notion that people are either left-brained or right-brained. With a background in higher education, he has excelled in analytical reasoning, serving as a Financial Aid Administrator, Associate Dean of Enrollment Management, and Executive Director of a vocational school.

Eric's creative pursuits are equally impressive. He is the president of "TAG - The Actors' Group," a community theater that has become Honolulu's go-to place for compelling drama. As a stage actor, he has appeared in numerous productions and has won two Po'okela awards for excellence in acting.

In film, Eric has played a range of roles, including Shigeo Yoshida in Tom Coffman's documentary "The First Battle," a crooked cop in Bob Bates' "Hotel Street," and a family member dealing with an impending tsunami in Jay Hanamura's segment of "6B: An Anthology Of Hawaii Films." He has also written 149 feature-length scripts, with 11 of them being produced as feature-length movies.

Eric's written works include a children's book, "Getting Ready For Kindergarten," co-written with his wife, Mary Ann, and a screenplay certificate from the UCLA Extension Writers' Program. He has directed 11 stage plays and 13 movies, and has served as an associate producer of "One Team," a documentary about Father Kenneth Bray, Iolani School's legendary football coach.

In addition to his creative pursuits, Eric has started several businesses, including "Yellow Brick Studio (YBS)," "Serenergy," and "ForesT." He is also the creator of "All Hawaii TV," a Roku TV channel dedicated to video content about Hawaii or produced by Hawaii residents. Eric has taught acting for years, conducting his weekly "Just Act" acting classes through the ADR Agency.

Eric's greatest achievement, however, is his family. He and his wife, Mary Ann, have been married since 1980 and have two children, Cory and Kristen Nemoto Jay, as well as three grandchildren, Winter Jay, Autumn Jay, and Aaron "Iwi" Jay.
