Biography

Everlyn Lee Marie Sampi was born on October 6th, 1988, in Derby, Western Australia, as the fourth child among three older brothers and one younger sister. Her birth was a significant event, marking the arrival of a bright and talented individual who would go on to make a lasting impact in the world of entertainment.

Everlyn belongs to the indigenous Bardi tribe, a proud and ancient culture that has been a part of Australia's rich heritage for thousands of years. However, her paternal grandfather hails from Glasgow, Scotland, giving her a unique blend of cultural influences that would shape her identity and inform her artistic endeavors.

Growing up, Everlyn relocated frequently with her family within the Kimberley Region, a vast and remote area of Western Australia. She spent time in Darwin, Broome, and other small towns, including Djarindjin, a small Aboriginal community near the Dampier Peninsula. These formative years would later influence her acting career, as she drew upon her experiences living in a multicultural environment to bring depth and authenticity to her performances.

In the summer of 1999, Everlyn's life took a dramatic turn when she was discovered by famous Australian director Phillip Noyce and casting director Christine King. They were searching for Aboriginal children to play the lead roles in the film "Rabbit-Proof Fence," and Everlyn's striking features and natural talent caught their attention. She was cast as the lead character, "Molly," and went on to deliver a performance that would earn her widespread critical acclaim and numerous awards.

Everlyn's success in "Rabbit-Proof Fence" led to her winning the Australian Annual Lexus IF Award for Best Actress in 2002. However, she did not let her newfound fame go to her head, and instead, she returned to her normal life, continuing her education at John Septimus Roe Anglican Community High School and spending her holidays with her family in Djarindjin.

After graduating from Broome Senior High School in 2006, Everlyn pursued a career in child welfare, working as a child welfare worker and later entering regional modeling competitions, such as the Kimberley Girl and Miss Roebuck competitions. These experiences not only helped her develop her skills as a model and actress but also provided her with a platform to inspire and empower young indigenous women.

Today, Everlyn is a proud mother of two children, born in 2014 and 2019, and she lives with her family in Broome, Western Australia. She has also made appearances in several guest roles in the Australian TV series "The Circuit," which is shot in the region where she grew up. Despite her many accomplishments, Everlyn remains humble and grounded, drawing inspiration from her cultural heritage and her experiences as a mother and a member of the Aboriginal community.
