Farah Khan Kunder is a multifaceted Indian film professional with an extensive career in Hindi cinema, serving as a director, choreographer, writer, producer, and actress. Her educational background includes studying at St. Teresa's Convent School in Mumbai and later pursuing sociology at St. Xavier's College in Bombay.
Farah's first foray into film was as a choreographer in Kahan Kahan Se Guzar Gaya in 1981. She gained prominence in the industry with her work in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar in 1992 and later won acclaim for her choreographed song in Virasat in 1997, earning her the Filmfare Award for Best Choreography for the song Dhol Bajne Laga.
Her subsequent Filmfare Awards for Best Choreography were awarded for Dil Se.. in 1998 and Ek Pal Ka Jeena from Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai in 2000. Some of her other notable award-winning choreographed songs include Bombay Dreams in 2004, for which she received a Tony Award nomination for best choreography, Idhar Chala Main Udhar Chala from Koi... Mil Gaya in 2003, earning her the National Film Award for Best Choreography and Filmfare Award for Best Choreography, and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara in 2011 and Tees Maar Khan in 2022, for which she won another Filmfare Award for Best Choreography.
As an actress, Farah has appeared in notable films such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998, Kal Ho Naa Ho in 2003, and Om Shanti Om in 2007. She has also made cameo appearances in several films and was seen as the lead actor in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi in 2012.
Farah's directorial debut was Main Hoon Na in 2004, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Zayed Khan. She went on to direct Om Shanti Om in 2007, Tees Maar Khan in 2010, and Happy New Year in 2014.
