Olufemi Ogunsanwo MBE, professionally known as Femi Oguns, is a multifaceted British creative force, excelling as a playwright, theatre producer, and founder of Identity Theatre School and Identity Drama School. His remarkable debut play, Torn, premiered at the Arcola Theatre in Dalston, London, weaving a Romeo and Juliet-inspired narrative centered on the Nigerian and Jamaican communities in the city.
Torn, a vibrant and timely new play, garnered mixed reviews from critics. The Stage praised it as "lively and relevant," yet noted its "clunky" execution. The Times, while acknowledging its "street smart" qualities, deemed it a "sprawling, chaotic piece of writing" in dire need of a script editor's guidance.
As an accomplished actor, Femi Oguns has secured roles in esteemed British television shows, including Prime Suspect 6: The Last Witness, The Bill, and EastEnders, as well as on the Arcola theatre stage. His outstanding contributions to the world of acting earned him the prestigious title of Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 2014 Birthday Honours for his services to the craft.
