Biography

Freddy Soto began his career in the entertainment industry as a limousine driver for the renowned comedian Richard Pryor. This initial experience laid the foundation for his future success, as it provided him with valuable exposure to the world of comedy. Following his stint as a limousine driver, Soto made his stand-up comedy debut at the St. Mark's Jazz Club in Venice, earning a modest $5 for his efforts. However, this initial foray into stand-up comedy sparked a passion within him, and he soon found himself working as the doorman at the prestigious Comedy Store in West Hollywood. During his time at the Comedy Store, Soto made a nightly wage of $25, a modest but respectable income for a young comedian.

As his confidence and skills grew, Soto began to headline comedy clubs and even opened for the renowned singer Marc Anthony on a 30-city tour. He also made appearances on various late-night talk shows, further solidifying his status as a rising star in the comedy world. In the early 2000s, Soto embarked on a nationwide tour as one of the Three Amigos, a group of Hispanic comedians that included Pablo Francisco and Carlos Mencia. The tour was a resounding success, and a DVD of the concert was released by Miramax in May.

In addition to his work in television and film, Soto also made appearances in several television pilots for UPN and CBS. He also landed a part in the 2004 film "Spanglish," where he served as a translator for the housekeeper. Throughout his career, Soto was known for his quick wit, charming stage presence, and ability to connect with audiences of all backgrounds.

Sadly, Freddy Soto passed away, leaving behind his wife, Cory, and their 3-year-old daughter, Cruz. Despite his untimely passing, Soto's legacy lives on through his body of work, and he will always be remembered as a talented and influential figure in the world of comedy.
