Biography

Jacqueline Nutt, later known as Gale Sherwood, was a talented American actress and operatic singer, born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She began her illustrious career at the tender age of five, performing on Canadian radio. As her family relocated to California, she enrolled in Hollywood's prestigious Mar-Ken school, graduating in 1945.

For over a decade and a half, Gale gained widespread recognition as half of a dynamic double act with renowned singer Nelson Eddy, performing duets that were originally made famous by Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald. Her remarkable career in Hollywood spanned more than a decade, during which she made a name for herself as a child actress, starring in the film "They Shall Have Music" (1939) under the stage name Jacqueline Nash.

As Gale Sherwood, she went on to star in the title role of the jungle adventure film "Blonde Savage" (1947),directed by the experienced filmmaker Steve Sekely, who was so impressed with the result that he opted to receive credit as "S.K. Seely". Gale's subsequent roles included starring in the children's film "Rocky" (1948),the Tchaikovsky biopic "Song of My Heart" (1948),and a made-for-television production of the musical "The Desert Song" (1955),in which she played the role of Margot opposite Nelson Eddy.

After Nelson Eddy's passing in 1967, Gale appeared in the musical "Showboat" at the Los Angeles Musical Centre. She subsequently retired and spent the remainder of her life in Florida, where she sadly passed away at the age of 88.
