Georgia May King is a Scottish actress born on November 18, 1986. She is the daughter of actor Jonathan Hyde and opera singer Isobel Buchanan. Growing up, King had dreams of becoming a director, but she surprisingly got her start in acting at the age of 18, still working at a cheese shop at the time. Her professional debut was as Rosamond Oliver in the 2006 film Jane Eyre.
However, King's entry into the acting world was almost derailed when she suffered a health scare just a week before filming began. She was hospitalized due to a ruptured appendix and was told she would need at least ten days to recover from surgery. As a result, another actress was cast in the role, but King miraculously recovered in time to receive the necessary medical clearance to film.
King is perhaps best known for her role as Goldie, a surrogate mother, in the American sitcom The New Normal. She has also received critical acclaim for her performances in various films, including Wild Child, Tormented, and Tanner Hall. In addition to her film work, King has also appeared on stage, performing in One Night in November at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry in 2010.
In recent years, King has continued to work in film and television, appearing in the comedy horror film Cockneys vs Zombies and the BBC series Merlin. She also had a recurring role as Princess Elena in the third season of Merlin. In 2016 and 2017, King played the role of Amanda Snodgrass in both seasons of the HBO comedy Vice Principals.
