Greg Poppleton, a multi-talented individual, initially pursued a career in heavy industry before transitioning to the world of acting. His journey began on radio, stage, and eventually, film.
He was discovered in a cattle call for a children's program and made his movie debut in a scene alongside Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge! (2001). Since then, he has appeared in scenes with Adrien Brody and John Goodman.
On television, he has recently been featured in the series Barons (ABC),The Last Days of the Space Age (Disney+),Year Of (Stan),and many more.
Throughout his career, Greg has been involved in 13 movies, 21 TV series, 11 shorts, and 65 television commercials.
On stage, he has played iconic roles such as Joe Keller, the lead in Arthur Miller's 'All My Sons', the Greek philosopher, Soptoros, and John Stark (Scott Joplin's manager) in a one-man show with a ragtime orchestra.
Greg grew up in Sydney, Australia, as the fourth of five children to Bert, a bus driver, and Aileen (Stapleton),a shop worker. He is of English and Irish ancestry.
He was an exceptional student, being top of his school, Christian Brothers Burwood, and winning a scholarship to attend his final two years of high school at the selective Fort Street High School in Sydney.
Greg holds an honors degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, and was a consultant engineer before entering professional radio as an audio operator and broadcaster at the age of 28 (SBS and ABC Radio). He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Communications, with a writing and textual theory major, from the University of Technology, Sydney, and is a published short story author.
In addition to his acting and engineering pursuits, Greg is Australia's only authentic 1920s-30s singer, with over 1.3 million YouTube views. He has released eight albums that have received local commercial and US airplay. He also produces and hosts the networked jazz mix, The Phantom Dancer, heard on 30 community radio stations across Australia and online.
Greg is married with two sons.
