Biography

Hakim, also known as "HAK", was born in the vibrant city of Detroit, Michigan. Leaving behind a successful career as a Senior Financial Analyst for renowned entertainment companies such as USA Networks, USA Broadcasting, Home Shopping Network, and Savoy Pictures, HAK embarked on a new journey to pursue his passion for writing and directing.

Prior to his film career, HAK worked as a telemarketer and studied film at the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). His close friend, Camille Friend, introduced him to Martin Glover on the set of the 2005 film "Coach Carter", which led to HAK being hired as a video assist operator, marking the beginning of his successful film career.

In 2003, HAK wrote an original script titled "White Boy Rick", which circulated among notable industry professionals such as George Furla, Mark Wahlberg, Antoine Fuqua, Paul Rosenberg, and Jimmy Iovine. Although the film was never greenlit, it introduced HAK to several key decision-makers in Hollywood.

In 2005, HAK founded his own production company, Picture That Productions, LLC, specializing in screenwriting, documentaries, music videos, and film production. While filming a documentary for Def Jam recording artist "DRO", HAK had the opportunity to meet and work with Russell Simmons. Impressed by HAK's unique vision and screenwriting skills, Simmons hired HAK to direct the lead music video for the feature film "Waist Deep". HAK's success on his music video directorial debut led to him writing and directing the feature film "4 LIFE", starring Wood Harris and Elise Neal.

In 2010, HAK wrote and directed his most prized film to date, "FORGIVENESS", a faith-based film starring Richard T. Jones. The film received numerous accolades, including Best Feature Film at the HBO Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival, Best Feature at the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival, Best Feature at the Gary Indiana Black Film Festival, and Best Faith-Based Film at the International Black Film Festival Nashville. "FORGIVENESS" is currently distributed by Novus / GVN / Sony Home Entertainment.

Hakim is a proud graduate of Morehouse College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.
