Sørlie, a native of Otta, Norway, embarked on a significant journey to the esteemed city of Oslo, driven by a strong desire to pursue a degree in medicine, a field that had long fascinated him.
However, as he delved deeper into his studies, he began to feel an unshakeable passion for the world of theater, and in 1978, he made the bold decision to shift his focus to the prestigious Statens Teaterhøgskole, where he could hone his craft and develop his skills as a performer.
Years of rigorous training and dedication eventually led him to the esteemed National Theater, where, in May 1981, he began his tenure under the guidance of the illustrious director, Toralv Maurstad, a man renowned for his exceptional talent and unwavering dedication to the art of theater.
Under Maurstad's direction, Sørlie was able to flourish as a performer, growing and developing his skills as an actor, and ultimately establishing himself as a respected and accomplished member of the National Theater's esteemed troupe.
Sørlie's personal life was marked by a profound connection with the talented actress Linn Stokke, with whom he shared a life filled with love and promise.
Tragedy, however, would soon intervene, as Sørlie's life was cut short in a catastrophic traffic accident that occurred on a highway, resulting in the loss of his life alongside his father.
As fate would have it, at the time of Sørlie's untimely passing, Stokke was pregnant with their second child, a poignant reminder of the life that could have been, had Sørlie's life not been tragically cut short.
