As a youthful thespian, Juan Almazán garnered significant anticipation and hype when he was cast as the esteemed Benito Juárez in the 1954 cinematic production "El joven Juárez", just after making a notable appearance in Luis Buñuel's thought-provoking film "El Río y la muerte" (1954).
Prior to this breakthrough role, Almazán had already established himself as a seasoned stage and screen actor, utilizing the pseudonym Juan Pérez to make his mark in European films directed by renowned directors such as Roberto Rossellini and Jean Renoir, among others.
Despite these promising beginnings, Almazán's career did not experience the level of success that might have been anticipated, leading him to ultimately pursue a different path in the 1960s by becoming a priest.
