Elijah Baughman's journey in the performing arts began at the tender age of five, sparked by movies such as Star Wars, Gremlins, and Ghostbusters. As he grew older, his fascination with television led him to discover the sitcom "Golden Girls," which he watched with his mother, a significant inspiration in his pursuit of a career in the performing arts. By the age of eight, Elijah started singing, and credits the iconic song "Poison" by Bell Biv DeVoe and medleys by Sebastian the Crab from "The Little Mermaid" as some of the first songs he could mimic verbatim.
Throughout his academic career, Elijah demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for learning, excelling in English, which became his best subject in school. At the age of twelve, he began writing poetry, and soon after, he was inspired by the emerging Hip-Hop culture, which led him to combine his musical, rhythmic, literary, and poetic skills to become the dynamic MC/Lyricist known as Elijah McCoy.
As a top-performing arts student in his senior year of high school, Elijah won awards for Choir, Theater, and Performing Arts, as well as the Top English Student honor. With a 3.5 GPA, he graduated from high school and went on to attend Wilberforce University, the oldest historically private black college in America, located in Wilberforce, Ohio.
At Wilberforce University, Elijah earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management under Cum Laude status, maintaining a 3.5 GPA throughout his academic journey. As he continues to pursue his artist's journey, Elijah aspires to apply his business management degree to various endeavors in the Entertainment industry, with a focus on not only entertaining but also educating, inspiring, encouraging, and empowering those who are willing to listen and learn.
Moreover, Elijah aims to provide healing to anyone his artistry touches, using his platform to spread positivity and upliftment.
