Ilya Maksimov, a renowned director, took his first breath on February 9, 1970, in the picturesque town of Kronstadt, situated within the Leningrad Oblast, a federal subject of the Russian Federation, which was then known as the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, USSR, a now-defunct union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
Now, he makes his home the in cosmopolitan city of St. Petersburg, Russia, which was previously known as Leningrad, a city that has undergone a name change in honor of one of the most prominent leaders of the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin.
