Ira Dubey is an Indian actress who has gained popularity for her diverse roles in Hindi films and television series. Born in Delhi, she pursued her passion for acting by majoring in theatre studies at Yale University and returning to India in 2004 to begin her professional career.
Ira has had the privilege of acting in over a dozen theatrical productions with the esteemed Primetime Theatre Co., including 30 Days in September, Wedding Album, and the critically acclaimed one-woman show 9 Parts of Desire. Her performances have received extremely favourable reviews both in India and abroad.
On stage, Dubey has played prominent roles such as Laura in The Glass Menagerie, Portia in The Merchant of Venice, Nora in A Doll's House, Joanne in A Few Good Men, and Hedda in Hedda Gabler. Her film credits include Aisha, M Cream, Shehjar, Dear Zindagi, and several other notable productions.
Dubey has received nominations for her performances in the short film Bin Bulaye and the web show Potluck. She has also acted in films such as Ba Ba Black Sheep, Penthouse, Whack Girls, and Scoop on Netflix, and will next be seen in Illegal S3 and Freedom At Midnight.
In addition to acting, Dubey has worked as a film-critic, talk-show host, brand presenter, and voice over artist. In 2021, she produced and acted in the short film The Daughter, which is now streaming on Jiocinema. Her production company, Lila Naatak Company, premiered Koel Purie's original play MUMMY'S DEAD, LONG LIVE MUMMY! in India and is developing two feature films, a web series, and a theatre production of King Lear starring Naseerudin Shah, directed by Rehaan Engineer.
