Isabella Jenny Karolina Eklöf, a highly acclaimed Swedish film director and screenwriter, burst into the world on the 10th of February, 1978, in the charming town of Östra Ryd. As a young individual with an insatiable passion for the art of storytelling, she embarked on an educational odyssey at the esteemed National Film School of Denmark.
Eklöf's fledgling career in the film industry was marked by a pivotal role as a "runner" on the 2008 Swedish cinematic endeavour, Let the Right One In, providing her with invaluable hands-on experience and a comprehensive understanding of the inner workings of the film industry. This early exposure served as a springboard for her future success, as she went on to collaborate with acclaimed director Ali Abbasi on the 2018 Swedish film, Border. This significant milestone in her career marked a turning point, as the trio's combined efforts resulted in a nomination for the prestigious Guldbagge Award for Best Screenplay, as well as the European Film Award for Best Screenwriter.
Not only is Eklöf a talented screenwriter, but she has also demonstrated her multifaceted creative abilities by making her directorial debut with the 2018 Danish film Holiday.
This critically acclaimed film received widespread recognition and accolades, earning Eklöf the prestigious New Wave Best Picture and New Wave Best Director awards at the esteemed Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas.
