Jacques Haitkin is a renowned cinematographer in the horror film genre, having photographed iconic features such as A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) and its sequel, as well as The Hidden, all considered classics within the genre. His remarkable ability to help directors maximize their budget and bring their vision to life has earned him a reputation as a master craftsman. With an impressive career spanning over 70 films and television movies, Haitkin has collaborated with top directors, including Wes Craven, with whom he worked on three projects.
Throughout his illustrious career, Haitkin has had the privilege of working with a diverse range of talented actors, including Melanie Griffith, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Eric Roberts, Mario Van Peebles, James Earl Jones, Lara Flynn Boyle, Jon Lovitz, and Kathleen Quinlan, to name a few. He also had the opportunity to work with the Oscar-nominated director Frank Darabont on the USA cable network feature debut Buried Alive (1990/II).
Jacques Haitkin's educational background includes a degree from the NYU Film School, where he later submitted an award-winning short film, Hot Dogs for Gauguin (1972),alongside director Martin Brest. The short film starred the then-unknown Danny DeVito and earned Haitkin a fellowship in cinematography from the American Film Institute.
