He then relocated to Los Angeles in the year 2000, where he continued to work steadily as an actor and filmmaker.
However, his career took a new turn when he moved to Melbourne, Australia at the end of 2020, amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
As a seasoned actor and director, James has had a profound impact on the industry, having created the Hollywood Actor Lab, a studio that provides training and career guidance to hundreds of actors.
With a career spanning over three decades, James has had the opportunity to work in various fields, including film, television, commercials, print modeling, and voice overs.
Born and raised in New York City, James attended high school and college in New Jersey, where he was an accomplished athlete, excelling in football, lacrosse, and wrestling, while also studying taekwondo in the summers.
At the age of 17, James received a full financial-aid scholarship to attend Rutgers University, where he majored in Theater and Cinema and became a competitive 3rd-degree black belt and captain of the taekwondo team.
After graduating, James began his professional career as a resident actor at The George Street Playhouse, where he had the opportunity to work with renowned actress Uta Hagen.
Throughout his training, James has had the privilege of studying under some of the industry's most esteemed instructors, including Rutgers University, The William Esper Studio, The Carter-Thor Studio, The Groundlings Improv Theater, Richard Waterhouse, Jonathan Slavin, and David Mamet.
One of James' most notable achievements is his feature film 'Starting from Scratch', which was acquired and distributed worldwide after a successful film festival run.
The film, which James wrote, directed, co-edited, co-produced, and starred in, won numerous awards, including 'Best Film' at the DisOrient Film Festival of Oregon, 'Best Comedy' at the Asians on Film Festival in Los Angeles, 'Best Ensemble Cast' and 'Best Editing' at the Independent Filmmakers Showcase of Los Angeles, and 'Honorable Mention for Best Film' at the New Jersey Film Festival.
In addition to his work in film, James has also received accolades for his work as an actor, including a Best Actor trophy from the Stay Tuned TV Awards and a Prism award for directing.
When he's not working in front of the camera or behind the scenes, James is an avid photographer, having completed the UCLA Extension Photography Certificate Program with straight A's.
