Jay Lind was born as the eldest of three siblings to a distinctly middle-class family in the small town of Salisbury, Maryland, United States. He spent the majority of his childhood attempting to avoid attention, only to later discover his true calling as an actor and director during his time at Salisbury State College. Under the guidance of Lee Starnes, Jay received mentorship from renowned stage and film actor Austin Pendleton.
Following his college education, Jay enlisted in the Army, serving as an Intelligence officer in West Berlin and distinguishing himself for valor during the invasion of Grenada. His bravery earned him a number of medals, including the Purple Heart. After completing his military service, Jay returned to the stage in New York and soon resumed directing.
In 1990, Jay shot his first film, SANGRE SONGES, also known as "Valerie", during which he met his future wife Maria Pechukas, marking the beginning of an on-again, off-again affair that lasted until her death in 2000. Throughout his career, Jay has continued to produce intriguing and unconventional films, featuring or starring his wife Maria Pechukas in titles such as "Night of the Cat", "Do You Like Women?", and "Carmilla" (1998).
In 2000, Jay wrote and directed "To Dance With Death" starring Brinke Stevens and Lauren Westen for One Shot Productions. To this day, Jay remains one of the most captivating, quirky, and controversial artists in the history of cinema. In addition to his film work, Jay has authored numerous books on subjects such as the identity of Jack the Ripper and the mythology of the Vampire.
