As of the current year, I have been fortunate enough to hold the esteemed position of department head for the makeup departments on a diverse and extensive range of over forty feature films, as well as more than three hundred episodes across various television series.
Throughout my illustrious career, I have honed my skills in crafting exceptional makeup designs that seamlessly blend with the narrative of action-packed films, thrilling adventure stories, futuristic and fantasy worlds, war-torn landscapes, and meticulously recreated period settings.
Notably, I have had the pleasure of collaborating with a number of esteemed actors, including the charismatic Dwayne Johnson, with whom I have had the privilege of working on a total of seven projects together.
My extensive experience and expertise have enabled me to develop a reputation for delivering high-quality makeup designs that enhance the overall visual aesthetic of each production, and I continue to be sought after by filmmakers and producers for my unique talent and attention to detail.
As a testament to my remarkable career in the film industry, I had the esteemed privilege of serving as department head on a staggering 19 projects helmed by the illustrious Arnold Schwarzenegger, a testament to my unwavering commitment to excellence and my ability to consistently deliver high-quality results. Throughout my illustrious tenure, I had the immense pleasure of collaborating with a plethora of legendary action stars, including the inimitable Bruce Willis and the iconic Sylvester Stallone, each of whom has left an indelible mark on the world of cinema.
My family's ancestry is deeply rooted in the realm of cosmetics, with my paternal grandfather, Jack Dawn, holding the esteemed position of "Director of Make-up" at the prestigious MGM studios from the year 1935 to 1950. During his illustrious tenure, he made significant contributions to the creation of over one hundred films, including the timeless and beloved 1939 masterpiece, The Wizard of Oz, which has become an integral part of cinematic history.
My father, Robert Dawn, followed in his father's footsteps by pursuing a career in the make-up industry, but his path took a dramatic turn when he answered the call to serve his country during World War II. As a decorated P-38 fighter pilot, he demonstrated remarkable bravery and skill, earning recognition for his outstanding achievements in the skies.
After the war, Robert Dawn returned to his roots in the make-up industry, dedicating the next thirty-five years to honing his craft and leaving an indelible mark on the world of film.
My uncle, Wes Dawn, embarked on a remarkable and storied career spanning approximately 35 years, dedicating himself to the craft of make-up artistry. As a testament to the family's enduring passion for the industry, I had the privilege of pursuing my own educational endeavors at Chapman College film school, graduating in 2011. Since then, I have been actively involved in the film and television industries, working in various markets including Hawaii, LA, and Portland. It is with great pride that I note the continued involvement of my family in the world of make-up artistry, as my son, Patrick Dawn, is the fourth generation to carry on the Dawn legacy in the realms of film and television.
