Biography

Jennifer Betit Yen is a multifaceted individual with a remarkable career spanning acting, writing, and production. Her acting credits include notable roles in New Amsterdam (NBC),Search Party (TBS),Royal Pains (USA),Film Lab Presents, and The Beacon Street Girls. Additionally, she has written the book The Opposite of a Fairy Tale and co-written the screenplays for La La Land, IWATTAU, Mirror Mirror, My Not So subConscious, and The Opposite of a Fairy Tale.

Jennifer has received recognition for her work, with mentions in The New York Times and Backstage Magazine. Her achievements extend beyond the entertainment industry, as she was honored by New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio and the First Lady for her acting and activism work. As a result, May 9, 2019, was officially declared "Jennifer Betit Yen Day" in New York City.

Jennifer has held lead roles in the pilot series La La Land and My Not So subConscious. Her film, The Opposite of a Fairy Tale, which tackles the sensitive topic of elder abuse, has been screened at various prestigious festivals and events, including the 39th Annual Asian American International Film Festival, the Palm Springs Desert Film Society, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation NY Shorts Showcase, and the NYC Conference on Elder Abuse.

Jennifer's educational background includes a degree from Cornell University and a law degree from Boston University School of Law. She currently serves as the President of the Film Lab, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting diversity in the arts.

Jennifer has also created the IWATTAU project, which aimed to spark a constructive dialogue about immigration by sharing the hopes and fears of New Yorkers from diverse backgrounds. The project was showcased through a multi-media platform, and the stories inspired a stage production of the same name. The production was written up in Broadway World and featured a panel discussion with experts to address xenophobia and its consequences.

Jennifer is a passionate advocate for animal welfare and founded the startup A2Px. In her free time, she enjoys boxing, fine vegan dining with her husband, and running with her beloved rescue dog.
