Jeremiah, a first-generation American, was born and raised in the culturally rich and vibrant neighborhood of Greenwich Village, New York City, as well as the frigid yet beautiful landscape of Minnesota. With a career spanning 30 years in the film industry, TORN marks his debut as a feature-film director.
Jeremiah's educational background includes attending Wesleyan University and the renowned Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. He began his career as an editor and producer on social issue documentaries, working on projects that tackled pressing concerns. During this period, he co-founded Detour Pictures, a music video production company in New York City, specializing in hip-hop and rap videos. Jeremiah's professional journey also involved collaborating with esteemed filmmakers, including two Oscar-winning directors.
After working in the industry for over a decade, Jeremiah relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area 15 years ago. In 2005, he co-founded Fog City Pictures, a production company that has produced nearly a dozen independent films, including Rob Nilsson's "Presque Isle" and James Savoca's "Around June". Jeremiah is also a co-founder of the San Francisco Film School, an accredited post-secondary institution that teaches filmmaking to students from around the world.
The story of TORN resonated deeply with Jeremiah, as it explores the current state of the world and the ways in which people are divided, both externally and internally. Through his work, Jeremiah aims to express the most personal and poignant aspects of human experience.
