Person Biography:
Jim Sarbh is an Indian film and stage actor-director, born on August 27, 1987, in Mumbai, to a Parsi family. His mother is a retired physiotherapist, and his father is a former master mariner and the Regional Director of P&O Ports South and Middle East Asia. The family moved to Australia when Jim was three years old and returned to Mumbai when he was eight. He attended the American School of Bombay and completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Emory University, USA.
After graduating, Jim worked as a literary intern at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta for a year and performed in several plays in Atlanta. He then moved back to Mumbai in 2012 and began acting in local theatre productions. His performance in the 2013 revival of Death of a Salesman earned him attention from several commentators.
Jim made his feature film debut in 2016 with the critically acclaimed biographical drama Neerja, playing the terrifying antagonist. He received rave reviews and many accolades for his performance, including a Screen Award and Zee Cine Award for Best Male Debut, and an International Indian Film Academy Award, Zee Cine Award, and Stardust Award for Best Performance In A Negative Role.
He has since appeared in several films, including Padmaavat, Sanju, and A Death in the Gunj, which rank among the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. His films have traveled to several prestigious film festivals, including the International Film Festival of Rotterdam, the Sundance Film Festival, and the Toronto International Film Festival.
Jim has also worked on music videos, including Prateek Kuhad's Cold/Mess and Hold It Tight by Ape Echoes. He is a sought-after muse to many fashion designers and lifestyle brands due to his ardent following, especially among the youth.
In addition to his film work, Jim has made his presence felt in leading roles on the web, across major online streaming platforms, including Amazon Prime, Eros Now, and Netflix. His future projects include Beneath The Sea Of Lights, House Arrest, Yeh Ballet, and Taish.
Currently, Jim resides in Mumbai.
