Biography

Johan is a Macanese actor born in Sweden in 1984. He began his acting career in China in the early 2010s and later became an actor, writer, and director in Macau.

In the early 2000s, Johan started with low-budget productions to gain experience. He then attended film school in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2004. From 2006 to 2008, he worked in independent films and web series in Canada.

In 2009, Johan received his first professional movie breakthrough in China for the film Last Kung Fu Monk (2010). He played the role of Russian Mafia Boss Oleg, a villain who wanted the hero to fight for him in a club. The film was released in October 2010.

Johan enjoyed working in China and continued working there for six years. In 2010, he collaborated with a Hollywood star from Taiwan, Winston Chao, in the TV drama Tian xing jian (2011),a historical drama about Xinghua University. He played a small role of an American Council man with an attitude.

In 2011, Johan worked on the film The Resistance (2011) for Ningxia Film Group. He played the role of German Nazi Commandant Schultz, who visited and collaborated with the Japanese army in China during World War II in 1940. The film was released in November 2011 and was nominated for special screening at the Cannes film festival in 2012 and Best Asian Film Awards in 2013.

From 2012 to 2014, Johan continued working in China on TV dramas. He is mostly known for his role as the foul-mouthed U.S. Lieutenant Collins in the war drama Da jue ze (2012),in which he became the first actor to say the word "sh**t" in a Chinese TV drama.

From 2013 to 2014, Johan was selected for a 150 million-dollar TV drama Marriage Cuisine (2014),a co-production with China, Hong Kong, and South Korea. Initially, he was supposed to play a French professor but was later cast as professor Johan after the director heard him speaking Swedish with the leading role player.

During his six years in the industry, Johan earned the nickname Li Shuai, meaning "handsome soul," due to his polite nature and friendships with his co-workers.

In the 2020s, during the pandemic, Johan collaborated with a small movie company in Macau and became the first director and actor to represent Macau at a worldwide event film festival. He has since made his first leading role in the movie The 21st Creator (2021) and directed, wrote, and starred in the Macanese Blade Runner movie The Edge of Human (2022).
