John Felix Anthony Cena was born on April 23, 1977, in West Newbury, Massachusetts, to Carol Cena and John Joseph Cena. He is of Italian (father) and French-Canadian and English (mother) descent, and is the grandson of baseball player Tony Lupien.
As a college student, Cena played football and later pursued a career in bodybuilding and limousine driving. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 240 pounds, he is a successful WWE superstar.
Cena started training to be a wrestler at Ultimate Pro Wrestling, where he created the character, The Prototype. He made his WWE debut on June 27, 2002, in a match against Kurt Angle, which he lost.
Throughout his career, Cena has been involved in several feuds and controversies, including rivalries with John Bradshaw Layfield, Eric Bischoff, Chris Jericho, Edge, and Umaga. Despite these conflicts, he has also formed friendships with fellow wrestlers, such as Carlito and Jeff Hardy.
In 2007, Cena became the first person to defeat Umaga and teamed up with Shawn Michaels to defeat Randy Orton and Edge. However, he lost his WWE Championship title due to an injury, which required seven months to a year of rehabilitation.
