John Luther Zimmerman IV, born on November 26, 1973, is a renowned American professional pair skater and coach.
He began his skating career by partnering with Brie Teaboldt for the 1994-95 season.
However, his partnership with Teaboldt was short-lived, and he went on to team up with Stephanie Stiegler from 1995 to 1998.
During this period, he won the bronze medal at the 1997 U.S. Figure Skating Championships under the guidance of coach Peter Oppegard.
Unfortunately, his partnership with Stiegler came to an end in 1998 due to injuries.
In 1998, he paired up with Kyoko Ina, and together they won the bronze medal at the 2002 World Championships.
After turning professional in 2003, they began skating on the popular ice show Stars on Ice.
Zimmerman's impressive skating career was featured when he was chosen as Yahoo's special guest expert correspondent for figure skating at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
However, his career was marred by controversy when he was suspended by the United States Center for SafeSport in March 2021 for a two-year period.
In his personal life, Zimmerman married Italian-American skater Silvia Fontana on August 28, 2003.
The couple has two daughters, born on April 2, 2012, and June 2, 2013, respectively.
John Luther Zimmerman IV's remarkable skating career, both as an athlete and a coach, has left a lasting impact on the world of figure skating.
