Jon S. Baird, a renowned Scottish director, has had the privilege of collaborating with industry giants such as Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, and Sir Mick Jagger, among numerous Academy Award-winning actors.
Baird's sophomore feature, Filth, a film he wrote, produced, and directed, starred James McAvoy in a performance that would go on to define his career. Filth received nominations for five BIFA awards and three BAFTA Scotland awards.
In 2015, HBO approached Baird to direct their Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger-produced show Vinyl, marking the beginning of a decade-long mentorship under the guidance of Martin Scorsese, with whom Baird has formed a close friendship.
In 2017, Baird directed the multi-nominated film Stan & Ollie, a biographical comedy-drama about Laurel and Hardy, starring Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly. For his work on this film, Baird won the BAFTA Scotland award for best director.
