Jonathan Newman is a British-born writer and director who spent his formative years growing up in Los Angeles. As a young individual, he developed a passion for filmmaking, creating short films on video at an early age. His academic pursuits led him to graduate from the prestigious Northern Film School in Leeds.
Newman's impressive filmography includes the Grand Prize-winning film "Father's Day" for JWT as part of the launch of the Ford Mustang 2010. His 2008 film "Swinging with the Finkels" was a runner-up for the FX/Filmaka competition.
Between 2006 and 2007, Newman was a BBC New Filmmaker finalist for his film "Foster," which received widespread acclaim and won numerous awards on the festival circuit. The film was later adapted into a feature film in 2011, starring Toni Collette and Ioan Gruffudd, and received critical acclaim, including the Grand Prize of the Youth Jury at the Rhode Island Film Festival.
In addition to his work in film, Newman is credited as an assistant author on the best-selling book "The Guerilla Filmmaker's Movie Blueprint," a comprehensive guide to independent filmmaking.
