Joshua was born in the vibrant city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to a father named Gordon, who hails from Biggar, Saskatchewan, and works as a Bio Medical Technician, and a mother named Judy, who was born and raised in the culturally rich city of Montreal, and currently serves as a dedicated secretary.
As a pre-teen, Josh made the significant move to Spruce Grove, Alberta, where he attended high school. This transition, however, was not without its challenges, as he had to adjust to a public junior high school after being accustomed to a Christian elementary school environment. Despite these difficulties, Josh discovered his passion for sports, particularly football and basketball, during his junior high school years. However, it was hockey that ultimately became his true calling.
Josh's journey in the world of acting began when he took classes with Elizabeth Ebbels, who initially took pity on him and later became his first real agent. During his high school years, Josh struggled to fit in, as he was overweight and not exactly the most popular student. However, in his senior year, he made a conscious decision to turn his life around and started frequenting a local gym, where he would spend 2-3 hours daily. This dramatic transformation would later lead him to get involved with the wrong crowd on numerous occasions.
After witnessing the negative consequences of his actions and becoming disillusioned with his lifestyle, Josh decided to refocus his energy on acting. He enrolled in the Motion Picture Arts Bachelor Program at Red Deer College, where he graduated with a impressive 3.67 GPA. The highlight of his academic journey was the opportunity to meet his primary instructor and mentor, Larry Reese, who has had a distinguished career in films such as Unforgiven and Brokeback Mountain.
A pivotal moment in Josh's career came when Larry Reese took him on as his personal reader during auditions. This experience led to Josh relocating to Vancouver, where he signed with Debbie Mahood at Lukas Talent, one of Canada's leading agencies. Debbie soon had him working on numerous Canadian television shows and American films, with his first major exposure coming in the form of Lifetime movies and the CW series Aliens In America.
Josh's big break came when he was cast as Greg Saloga in I Love You, Beth Cooper, directed by Chris Columbus, and Jonas Konelle in Jennifer's Body, alongside Megan Fox. With his impressive resume, Josh plans to join the ranks of many well-known Canadian actors in the US and has been scouting locations in West Hollywood.
