Joshua Caldwell is a talented director, writer, and producer who has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry. Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Caldwell has a keen eye for storytelling and a passion for bringing unique and captivating films to life.
His debut feature film, Layover, premiered at the 2014 Seattle International Film Festival to sold-out crowds and received critical acclaim for its beautiful, moving, and wistful portrayal of a young woman stuck in Los Angeles overnight. The film was nominated for the prestigious FIPRESCI New American Cinema Award and received praise from critics, with David Chen of /Film.com calling it "a beautiful, moving, wistful film" and Scott Beggs of FilmSchoolRejects.com describing it as "a beautiful antidote for big budget fatigue" and "a beautifully mature work from a promising young director."
Caldwell has since gone on to direct a number of other feature films and television shows, including the Paramount Pictures and Studio 71 film Be Somebody, the first season of the Hulu drama series South Beach, and the MarVista Entertainment thriller Negative, starring Katia Winter and Simon Quarterman. His latest film is the crime thriller Infamous, starring Bella Thorne and Jake Manley.
In addition to his feature work, Caldwell has also helmed a number of high-profile short films, including Dig, which tells the story of a young Holocaust survivor who comes face to face with the Nazi who killed his family, and Resignation, a short film about a world in which Superman has taken off his cape and turned his back on humanity. Both films received critical acclaim and were featured at numerous festivals across the country.
Before launching his career as a director, Caldwell worked as an executive for CSI: creator Anthony E. Zuiker, overseeing several of Zuiker's high-profile digital projects, including producing Cybergeddon, an online global motion picture event for Yahoo!. Caldwell also wrote, directed, and produced all of Cybergeddon's narrative ancillary content for the immersive website.
Caldwell has also worked on a number of other projects, including serving as a co-producer on the Silverwood series and producer on Anthony Zuiker Presents, and was a key player in Zuiker's digi-novel series, Level 26, which includes Dark Origins, Dark Prophecy, and Dark Revelations.
In his personal life, Caldwell resides in New York State with his wife Danielle, son Austin, daughter Everly, and rescue dog Hadley.
