Biography

Judy's paternal lineage is rooted in the world of music, as her father was a talented trumpeter who performed with notable bands such as Paul Whiteman and Benny Goodman. Her maternal side, on the other hand, boasted a rich history in the performing arts, with her mother having been a former Ziegfeld Follies dancer. This unique blend of artistic influences likely played a significant role in shaping Judy's early interests and passions.

As a young girl, Judy was a triple threat, exceling in ballet, music, and acting. Her impressive skills and beauty earned her the title of "Miss Stardust" in a 1949 beauty contest, and she went on to dance with the renowned Copacabana chorus line. Additionally, Judy began making bit appearances on television while still in high school, demonstrating her early talent and versatility.

At the tender age of 17, Judy landed the role of Princess Summerfall Winterspring on the beloved children's TV show, The Howdy Doody Show (1947). She remained a part of the show for two years before resigning, taking a brief hiatus before returning to the stage.

Judy's resurgence in the spotlight came in 1956, when she starred in the play "Pipe Dream," which garnered her a prominent feature on the cover of Life magazine. This newfound success led to two film appearances, including a notable co-starring role alongside Elvis Presley in the 1957 classic, Jailhouse Rock.

Tragically, Judy's life was cut short in a devastating car accident just three days after filming wrapped. She was 17 years old at the time of her passing, and her second husband, who was driving, succumbed to his injuries the following morning. Judy was laid to rest in Hartsdale, New York, leaving behind no children from either of her marriages.
