Person Biography:
Julian Acosta was born and raised in Puerto Rico, and later moved to El Paso, Texas as a teenager. After dropping out of Texas Tech University, he enrolled at North Harris College in Houston, where he discovered acting. He went on to earn a B.F.A. in Theater at Florida International University in Miami and an M.F.A. from Rutgers University.
Acosta has had a prolific career in television, with recurring roles on shows such as "NCIS: New Orleans", "Madam Secretary", "Hand of God", and "Being Mary Jane", among others. He has also made guest appearances on numerous TV shows, including "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders", "Elementary", "NCIS: Los Angeles", and "The West Wing".
On the film front, Acosta has appeared in projects such as "The Three Christs", "CBGB", "The Lords of Salem", "The Atticus Institute", and "True Love". He is set to appear in his first Spanish-language film, "El Secreto Del Retrato", directed by Janet Alvarez Gonzalez.
Acosta is also a stage actor and has appeared in productions such as "Othello", "Penalties and Interest", "Massacre (Sing To Your Children)", "Piano", "Lucy and The Conquest", "Anna In The Tropics", and "Lover's and Executioners". He made his directorial debut with "Short Eyes" by Miguel Pinero at the Los Angeles Theater Center, which was critically acclaimed and selected for the International Hispanic Theatre Festival in Miami.
Acosta is married to director Nina Lopez-Corrado and splits his time between Los Angeles and Islamorada in the Florida Keys. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, scuba diving, and being an "accomplished ne'er do well".
