Julie Chapin, a native of Philadelphia, began captivating audiences from a young age. As a child, she would put on plays for her friends and neighbors, and by the time she was 12, she had developed a knack for entrepreneurship, creating puppet shows and offering her services at birthday parties. By 16, Chapin was already performing in the Catskills, and it was clear to those who knew her that Hollywood was calling.
Despite her parents' initial disapproval, urging her to pursue a "real job," Chapin's passion for acting remained strong. She eventually enrolled in an acting class at Vassar College, taught by the legendary Jean Arthur, an experience that would shape her future and remain with her forever.
For the next three decades, Chapin worked as a corporate attorney, eventually marrying, raising four children, and sending them off to college. After retiring from the corporate world, she transitioned to the non-profit sector, working with an organization that supports children in the foster care system. However, she couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to life, and she began to reflect on her past acting experiences.
Chapin returned to the industry with renewed energy, performing in over 60 productions across stage, film, television, and commercials within just three years. Her credits include The Vagina Monologues, Cupcake Cabaret, The Touchstone, See All the People, Soulmate, Smiley Face Killers, and Smoking Section, among many others.
Recently, Chapin has been busy serving as producer/host for Pets Central Media and Princeton Public Access TV, while also filming in Hollywood as Fannie Goldstein in Ghost Goggles and Alexandra Levy in Sangre Negra.
It has been over 30 years since Chapin was told to "get a real job," and today, this mother, wife, and retiree is proving that the entertainment industry is where she was meant to be all along. For Julie Chapin, life is indeed better the second time around.
