Karly Rothenberg's life and career are a testament to her passion for the performing arts. Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, she began her journey by training in both New York and Los Angeles. Her professional career took off when she joined Totem Pole Playhouse in Pennsylvania, where she met her mentor and lifelong friend, Avery Schreiber.
Karly studied Improvisational Theater with Avery until his passing in 2002, and later honed her skills with the legendary Stella Adler in her master class. With great pride, she became Ms. Adler's personal secretary in Los Angeles, a role she held until Stella's passing.
Throughout her career, Karly has taken on a wide range of stage roles, including Lalume in Kismet, Susan in Desert's Song, Celia in A Hatful of Rain, Isabelle in Ring Round The Moon, Doatsy May in Best Li'l Whore House in Texas, and various Los Angeles Improv shows at The Second City and Improv Olympics.
Her notable TV roles include Ms. Shapiro in the Netflix hit American Vandal, Marlene, Miguel Ferrer's secretary on The Protector, Mrs. Valentine on That's So Raven, and Madge Madsen, on NBC's hit show, The Office. She has also made guest appearances on This is Us, The Resident, AP Bio, Veronica Mars, Gray's Anatomy, and Young Sheldon.
In addition to her on-screen work, Karly has a successful voice-acting career and is a proud member of The Television Academy, Actors Equity, and SAG-AFTRA.
One of Karly's most memorable film roles to date was playing the boat captain, Dee Brady, in the upcoming Netflix film NYAD, starring Annette Bening, Jodie Foster, and her new forever friend, Rhys Ifans.
