Karthik Subbaraj, a renowned Indian film director, embarked on a fascinating journey that would ultimately shape his future in the cinematic world. Prior to his foray into the film industry, he pursued a career as a software engineer in Bangalore, working for the esteemed organization, Infosys. It was during this period that he developed a keen interest in the art of filmmaking, which would eventually become his true calling.
Karthik's passion for filmmaking was kindled during a one-day workshop conducted by the experienced filmmaker, Sanjay Nambiar. This workshop served as a catalyst, providing him with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the field. With his newfound understanding of the craft, Karthik went on to create a short film titled "Kaatchipizhai" in the city of Madurai. This remarkable short film would later earn him recognition as it was selected for the prestigious "Naalaya Iyakunar" program.
