Kate Fenton embarked on her illustrious career as a part of the pioneering Humber College Comedy Program, laying the foundation for her future success. Following her graduation, she was honored with a nomination for the prestigious Phil Hartman Award. Throughout her journey, Kate has pursued advanced training in the art of acting, earning an MFA from York University and completing the Second City Longform Conservatory and Sketch and Improv Conservatory programs. She has also honed her skills at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and The ProActors Lab.
As a co-founder and former Artistic Director of the Dora Award-winning company The Quickening Theatre, Kate's multifaceted talents shone through as a playwright, director, actor, producer, and general manager. During her tenure, the company achieved numerous accolades, including the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding New Play, Best of The Fringe, 'Culchivating' the Fringe, and NOW Magazine Nominations for Outstanding Direction, Outstanding Production, Outstanding Performance, Outstanding Ensemble, Outstanding Design, and Outstanding New Play. The company also received vital funding from the Toronto and Ontario Arts Councils.
Kate's impressive body of work has been showcased at various esteemed institutions, including the Toronto International Film Festival, Theatre Passe Muraille, Young People's Theatre, The Vancouver East Cultural Centre, CBS, Lifetime Channel, Discovery, and numerous film festivals across Europe and North America. When not working on her latest projects, Kate can be found bringing laughter and joy to audiences in Toronto with her Improv Troupe 'Abra Cadaver' and Sketch Duo 'Adulting'.
