Her film "Hysterical Girl" (The New York Times Op-Docs) is a thought-provoking exploration of the only major case history published by Sigmund Freud, a female patient, and the lingering impact of his theory of hysteria on society.
This critically acclaimed film was shortlisted for an Academy Award and received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing, with Richard Brody of The New Yorker describing it as "extraordinary" and "striking at the very foundations of the field of psychology." The film's examination of the historical failure to believe victims has not yet been fully addressed.
Kate's feature documentary, "The Gospel According to Andre" (Magnolia Pictures),is a heartfelt tribute to the legendary fashion editor Andre Leon Talley. The film was named one of the top ten Queer films of the year by Indiewire and received a nomination for best LGBTQ documentary of the year from the Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics.
