Katrin Gebbe, a talented writer/director from Germany, has made a significant impact in the film industry with her unique storytelling and direction. As the lead director of the German Netflix series "Die Kaiserin" (2022),Gebbe has proven her versatility and skill in crafting compelling narratives.
Prior to her work on "Die Kaiserin", Gebbe directed the critically acclaimed film "Pelikanblut" (2019),which premiered in the prestigious Orrizonti section at the Venice Film Festival. This feature film, starring the renowned actress Nina Hoss, earned Gebbe numerous accolades, including the Méliès d'Or Award for Best European Fantastic Film at the Sitges Film Festival, and the main award at the Bucheon International Film Festival in South Korea.
Gebbe's impressive list of achievements also includes her first feature film, "Tore tanzt" (2013),which premiered in Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival. This film garnered widespread recognition, including the German Film Critics Award, the Bavarian Film Award, and the New Auteurs Critics Award at AFI Fest, among others.
