Kealan O'Rourke, a talented filmmaker, graduated from The National Film School in Ireland, setting the stage for a successful career in the industry. Prior to his feature film work, O'Rourke wrote and directed a series of critically acclaimed short films, including the award-winning "Before Sunrise" and "The Christmas Letter", which was nominated for an IFTA and starred Kate Winslet.
The Boy in The Bubble, narrated by Alan Rickman, received widespread recognition, taking home the IFTA for Best Animation and numerous international awards. O'Rourke's expertise in animation led him to direct several popular children's TV series, such as BB Agus Bella, Havanimal, and Peek Zoo, which aired on prominent networks like TG4, RTEjr, KIKA, and SRF.
In addition to his work in animation, O'Rourke has written feature-length scripts for major studios, including Bolivar for Warner Bros., The Houdini Box for 20th Century Fox, Emily The Strange for Universal, and Danger Mouse for eOne. His live-action/animation hybrid feature, Happy Krampus Day!, is currently in development, with Kate McKinnon set to star.
O'Rourke's most recent project, the stop-motion feature Alien Xmas, was released on Netflix in 2020 for Thanksgiving and debuted in the top 5 most-watched films in the US. This festive film was written by O'Rourke and produced by Jon Favreau.
