As a self-proclaimed fan of 1980's slasher films, Sommerfield is deeply committed to preserving the spirit of this beloved sub-genre. Sommerfield's influences are diverse and far-reaching, with a particular fondness for the works of Wes Craven, John Carpenter, and Tobe Hooper. He is also a great admirer of the "scream queens" of the 1980s, with Heather Langenkamp being a particular favorite of his.
