Khaled Youssef, a celebrated Egyptian film director, boasts a family heritage steeped in politics, as his father held the esteemed office of mayor. Before embarking on a career in the world of cinema, Khaled pursued his academic endeavors in the electrical engineering division of the faculty of engineering at Banha University, graduating in the year 1990. During his time at the esteemed institution, he distinguished himself by serving as the Student Union president, a position of great responsibility and prestige. Additionally, Khaled showcased his burgeoning directorial talents by helming a play titled "Al Moharej", a production penned by the late Syrian writer Mohamed Al Maouz. This theatrical endeavor was performed at the renowned Taliaa theater as part of a university students' production, providing Khaled with a valuable platform to hone his craft and demonstrate his artistic abilities.
Khaled's academic path was significantly enhanced by his encounters with the renowned film director Youssef Chahine, whom he met during his student years through a series of film screenings and seminars conducted at the university. This chance meeting led to Khaled's involvement in Chahine's 1991 documentary film "Cairo Shining With Its People", as well as his contributions to the screenplays of three notable films, namely "The Immigrant", "Destiny", and "The Other". Furthermore, Khaled had the opportunity to work as an assistant director on the set of "Alexandria New York", a testament to the longevity and depth of his professional partnership with Chahine. This extensive history of collaboration with the legendary director played a crucial role in moulding Khaled's career as a filmmaker.
In the year 2001, Egyptian filmmaker Khaled embarked on a new creative journey by making his directorial debut with the cinematic production "The Storm", which boasted an impressive cast including renowned actresses Yousra, Hanan Tourk, and the talented Hani Salama.
As Khaled's career progressed, he continued to make a significant impact in the Egyptian film industry with a string of successful productions, including "Marriage by Presidential Decree" in 2003, which was followed by "My Soulmate" later that same year.
Khaled's impressive repertoire also featured "Ouija" in 2005, "Justified Infidelity" in 2006, and "Heena Maysara" in 2007, cementing his status as a prominent figure in the Egyptian film industry.
One of the most notable collaborations in Khaled's career was his joint effort with the renowned Egyptian director Chahine on the 2007 production "This Is Chaos", further solidifying his reputation as a master filmmaker.
