Kirk, a renowned individual, was born in the bustling metropolis of New York City, and subsequently raised in the charming town of Wyckoff, New Jersey. His academic pursuits led him to the University of Southern California, where he earned a degree in economics and political science in 1991.
Following his graduation, Kirk embarked on a three-year stint as a journalist in Italy, working for a prominent film-business magazine. This experience not only honed his writing skills but also allowed him to develop a unique perspective on the industry.
Upon his return to the United States, Kirk joined the esteemed William Morris Agency in both New York City and Los Angeles, further refining his craft and building a network of industry connections.
In 1995, Kirk's writing talents were recognized when he sold his first spec script, "Day in November," to the renowned producer Arnold Kopelson. This breakthrough led to a string of opportunities, as he had the privilege of adapting the work of his writing heroes, including the celebrated authors Roald Dahl, Jack Kirby, and Elmore Leonard.
Kirk's impressive career also afforded him the opportunity to collaborate with comedy legend John Cleese, co-writing two scripts with the esteemed actor and writer.
In addition to his writing endeavors, Kirk also ventured into the world of animation, co-writing and co-directing DreamWorks Animation's critically acclaimed film "The Croods," which received a nomination for the 2013 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
