Knud Vesterskov, a multifaceted artist, was born in 1942 and embarked on a journey of creative expression that spanned decades.
His educational background is a testament to his versatility, having graduated in graphic design, fine art, and graphic art from renowned art colleges in Århus, Paris, Rome, and Istanbul.
Before venturing into the world of film and video, Knud spent a significant period in the theatre, honing his skills in Århus and Amsterdam, where he also learned the art of still photography.
For over a decade, he resided in the Middle East and South East Asia, where he built a house in Bali and immersed himself in the local culture, studying mask dancing and rituals with the head-hunters of Sumatra and the Philippines. This experience would later influence his work in mask theatre in Holland.
Since 1983, Knud has been actively working in the field of film and video, co-founding Trekanten, an experimental video group. His productions can be categorized into three main areas: scratch videos with intense, rapid, and sensual bombardment; small, faked highlights from splatter movies; and poetic, sensual films that are equally relevant to underground milieus and art video festivals.
Throughout his career, Knud has received numerous accolades for his work, including recognition at the Berlin Film Festival in 1994 for his film "By The Dawn's Early Light". Some of his notable films and videos include "Shooting Script: A Transatlantic Love Story" (1992),"Urban Dissonance", "The Tattooed Sheep", "By The Dawn's Early Light", and "GEEK, N.Y.C.'s Secret Sideshow".
Knud has also collaborated with modern Danish writers, such as Morti Vizki, on projects like "Stolen Glances" (1996) and "The Mulatto" (1834),a film based on Hans Christian Andersen's play and shot in the Caribbean, New York, and Copenhagen.
In addition to his work in film and video, Knud has created graphic illustrations, book jackets, and photographs for major campaigns.
