Konstantin Khabenskiy is a renowned Russian actor, recognized globally for his performances in the horror films Night Watch (2004) and Day Watch (2006),as well as his co-starring role in Wanted (2008) alongside Angelina Jolie.
Born on January 11, 1972, in Leningrad, USSR (now St. Petersburg, Russia),Konstantin comes from a family of hydrological engineers. His parents, Yuri Aronovich Khabenskiy and Tatiana Gennadievna (nee Nikulina),instilled in him a strong sense of creativity.
Konstantin initially studied electronics at the Leningrad Technical School of Aviation Electronics and Automatics but dropped out after three years to pursue his passion for music. He began playing guitar on Nevsky Prospekt, Leningrad's main street, and worked as a stage technician at the Theater-Studio "Subbota".
In 1990, Konstantin enrolled in the St. Peterburg Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography, where he studied acting under the guidance of Veniamin Filshtinsky. His classmates included Andrey Zibrov and Mikhail Trukhin.
After graduating in 1995, Konstantin made his film debut in Na kogo Bog poschlet (1994) and gained popularity in Russia for his role in Uboynaya sila (2000). His breakthrough performance came with the leading role in Night Watch (2004) and its sequel Day Watch (2006),based on the novels by Sergey Lukyanenko.
Konstantin's international fame increased with his role as Exterminator in Wanted (2008). He has also appeared in numerous stage productions, including "White guard" at the Moscow Arts Theater and a Russian adaptation of Shakespeare's "Hamlet".
Outside of his acting career, Konstantin enjoys a rural lifestyle in his country home near Moscow. He has been married twice, first to radio-journalist Anastasiya Khabenskaya, with whom he had a son, and then to actress Olga Litvinova, with whom he has a daughter.
Throughout his career, Konstantin has received numerous awards and decorations, including the title of Honorable Actor of Russia (2006). He currently resides in both Moscow and St. Petersburg, with homes in both cities.
