Larry Dwyer was born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut, a city that was once familiar with the sight of gas lines and the presidency of Richard Nixon. His upbringing was deeply influenced by his two primary passions: movies and music. His mother, a classically trained pianist, instilled a profound love of music in Larry from a very young age, and among the various genres she adored, rock music held a special place in his heart. This early affinity for rock music led Larry to learn how to play the guitar, a skill that would later serve him well as a founding member of the Grammy-nominated hardcore/metal band Hatebreed.
Larry's fascination with movies was also a direct result of his parents' influence. From a tender age, his parents would take him to drive-in movie theaters on weekends, where he would sit in the backseat and watch a wide range of films, including horror classics such as 'Dawn of the Dead', 'Blood Beach', and 'Mother's Day'. This early exposure to horror movies sparked a lifelong passion within Larry, which would eventually manifest in his work reviewing films and interviewing filmmakers for Horror News Network and the annual Connecticut HorrorFest convention. His efforts in the horror genre have also led to roles in films alongside notable actors such as Kevin Sorbo ('Hercules'),Adrienne King ('Friday the 13th'),and Caroline Williams ('Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2').
When Larry is not in front of the camera, he can be found hosting genre film double features at Connecticut theaters, writing for the Horror News Network website, helping to organize the annual CT HorrorFest convention, podcasting with Scary Larry's House of Horrors, coaching Little League baseball, playing shows with various bands, working as a Project Manager, and most importantly, dedicating time to his wonderful family as a husband and father.
