Biography

Laura Schein, a multifaceted artist, hails from Chicago and has since made Los Angeles her home. As a co-creator, she has brought to life the highly acclaimed musical Emojiland, earning a New York Times Critics Pick, Richard Rodgers Award Finalist, and multiple nominations from the Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle, and Off-Broadway Alliance.

Laura Schein originated the role of Smize in Emojiland, a testament to her impressive acting chops. Her work extends to the world of music, having co-written original songs for the 2022 stop motion Disney holiday film Mickey Saves Christmas and the Paramount+ feature Honor Society. She was also part of the music team for the animated feature UglyDolls, which boasts the notable Kelly Clarkson/Janelle Monae duet "Unbreakable," shortlisted for the 2020 Academy Awards.

As a lyricist, Laura Schein is currently working on the musical feature Marriage Material, a project in development with Chernin Entertainment, based on the short film acquired by Fox Searchlight. Her 1/2 hour comedy pilot Thrup was a semi-finalist at the 2021 Austin Film Festival.

Laura Schein's acting career began at the tender age of 13, when she landed a role in the first national tour of Ragtime. Since then, she has performed at award-winning theaters worldwide, amassing a diverse range of TV/film credits, including guest roles on FOX, Showtime, ABC, CBS, Amazon, and SyFy, as well as a series regular on YouTube Originals' comedy series Sing It!

In addition to her impressive acting credentials, Laura Schein co-created the improvised series Crystal's Balls for Funny Or Die, earning an LA WebFest "Outstanding Lead Actress" nomination. She has also toured the country opposite Jason Alexander in his show An Evening With Jason Alexander.

Laura Schein is a proud graduate of Northwestern University, where she honed her craft and laid the foundation for her future successes.
